1. A ridiculously huge Underwood typewriter (Which I will spray paint pink) for $24
2. A retro globe with undeniable socialist views for $10
3. A concho belt for $1
I went there in search of some vintage things for a swap with a fellow blogger, Haylee. I will probably check back there and the flea market again today before my art class because I'm not quite satisfied with the package yet. Speaking of art class, I started a very ambitious painting last week. It is of 15 women in silk gowns. I haven't even finished the under-painting yet :/
Being the hyper-focused person that I am, I diverted my attention to an old magazine from 1942 and decided to paint that. I think my under-painting turned out quite well for my first oil painting. What do you think?

Oh my goodness Alyssa, I had no idea you painted let alone were AMAZING at it. Seriously I can't believe you did that! What a fun picture too.
ReplyDeleteI'm totally jealous of your Goodwill finds by the way. That typewriter is a complete GEM.
Aww thank you so much :) I had a lot of fun painting that picture. My local Goodwill always makes for an interesting day, that's for sure. I'm going to be posting a typewriter makeover soon, so I hope turns out well haha.
ReplyDeleteTypewriters and globes - two of my favorite vintage items, yet I have far too many of the former and none of the latter. Great finds! Good luck with spray painting the Underwood - it should turn out fine, especially if you manage to do it on a sunny day.
ReplyDeleteHaha really? My local Goodwill is full of globes. I'm not even joking. This was the first typewriter I found. Want to swap cities for a week ;) Thanks for your kind words.
